PART 1: Hints Pro Ses (Non-lawyers) Should Remember When Attenting Mediation

June 26, 2021 Mac Pierrelouis No comments yet

Fran Brochstein, a Texas-based mediator at familylaw4u.com, discusses common hints for people who don’t have lawyers:

1. Mediations are binding. 2. You’ll need to “paper” the case yourself; mediators typically do not do this act. 3. Research the law and talk to a lawyer. 4. Mediator is not your lawyer; even if they are a licensed attorney. 5. Mediation should be safe and have no intimidation. 6. Mediation is an alternative to court, but is not therapy, although allows for limited “venting.”

We delved a bit last week into the social phenomenon known as social proof, which examines how consumers rely on others’ public opinion about a particular good or service before selecting the good or service.
